We’ll select graphs to feature from each of four categories based on participants’ age as of December 31, 2022: Who Can Enter?Īny individual from any country, aged 13+ may submit a Desmos graph to the competition via the Desmos Graphing Calculator. We want to feature graphs that do the same!įinally, we’ll have a few surprises this year, which we’ll share at the end. Part of our mission at Desmos Studio is to make sure that math is accessible to everyone, and so we prioritize performance-even on low-powered devices-in everything we build. Secondly, we’re clarifying our evaluation criteria to prioritize some new characteristics, including performance. There’s just too much variety and ingenuity. So we decided we want this to feel more like an Art Gallery than a prize contest. We found it nearly impossible to pick a “winner” from amongst the featured graphs. But this year every single person featured will receive a prize. We’re excited to announce our 3 rd annual Global Math Art Contest, this year with some big changes.įirst and foremost, we’re still going to select 20 graphs in each of 4 age brackets to feature on our website. The Art Contest has inspired new features, pushed our technical limits, and motivated us to improve our calculator to be worthy of the incredible people who use it. Each year, we’ve been amazed by the creativity and artistry of people from around the world. Having the foundational knowledge of how to use the software will save time. Make sure to color your equation art design. Turn in the art with the equations using a paper clip. You will turn in a hard copy of the design. Create an Account on DESMOS so you can SAVE your work. Example equations with restrictions are provided below to help you get started as well as examples of past student work. A simple image should take about 25 equations. Your equation art should consist of at least 25 equations and at least 6 different types of equations. You can search on google for an image you want to draw or create your own. You are to create a drawing with equations and restrictions using the DESMOS software.
