The PC or Mac you're using to stream needs to be on the same local network as your Chromecast device, wired or wireless.Ĭhris Hoffman is the former Editor-in-Chief of How-To Geek. Oh, and of course you'll need a Chromecast device, or an Android TV device like the NVIDIA SHIELD (because they can accept Chromecast-standard streams, too), or a television that uses Android TV as its software (like one of Sony's newer TVs). This feature is currently only available in version 3.0 of VLC for Windows and Mac, so you'll need a Windows PC or Mac and an up-to-date version of VLC to continue. ![]() Your experience may vary, but it's worth trying to see if it works for you-and it should only get better over time. Something related to video codec's (I am currently using MPEG-TS Encapsulation, with a MPEG-2 video codec at 400kb/s). We dont have out network setup for multicast (although, then why would a PC to PC stream have worked, and i'm not using a multicast address in VLC)Ģ. I think the problem could be related to one of two thingsġ. (I'm adding the content in the media library then adding to a playlist, which i assign to the DMP) Currently the DMP just displays a blank screen when asked to play this content via the DMM. So my next step is to allow the DMP to receive this UDP video stream. I have managed to get this to work from one PC as the streaming server to another PC as the client. ![]() (We have some windows apps that we would like to stream to our displays) I have discovered VLC is able to create a video stream of a PC desktop and send it via UDP.
